The New Deal Philosophy

Made for local folks, by local folks

New Deal Distillery provides high quality, craft-distilled spirits, inspired by the DIY spirit of Portland. All of our artisan vodkas are made locally in small batches with Bull Run water and natural and organic ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible. All we wanted, when we started, was to simply put one good bottle of vodka on a store shelf, have one person buy it, and maybe change humanity for the better along the way.

In 2004, we achieved our first goal when our New Deal Vodka hit the shelves. New Deal was followed by our Portland 88 Vodka–our tribute to the city that raised us. Hot Monkey Pepper-Flavored Vodka is our most recent offering, and we know we did something right with this one because it won a Gold Medal at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Of course, eventually, we plan to rule the world!

Think global, act local means different things to different people, but at New Deal Distillery it means that we support local organic farmers, promote the Slow Food Movement, champion Farm-to-Table partnerships, source parts and equipment from local distributors, strive to be environmentally sustaninable and socially responsible, and believe that “cooperatition” should define business relationships.

We think that the rapid growth and measured successes of the craft-distilling industry in Portland is proof thatcraft-distilleries will continue to offer locally-made, high-quality alternatives to the products of corporate conglomerates that dominate the alcohol beverage industry . . . changing humanity for the better along the way.

LET’S DRINK VODKA!
