New Deal Vodka Now Made From Grain-to-Glass

New Deal Distillery’s signature spirit, locally-crafted New Deal Vodka now made entirely from grain to glass.

New Deal Distillery, a pioneer in craft distilling in Portland, Oregon since 2004, has taken their signature New Deal Vodka to an entirely grain to glass process. Sourcing grain from trusted farms, New Deal Vodka now uses 100% locally-grown, Oregon soft winter white wheat. New Deal is bringing the entire vodka production process in house, distilling the grain mash in small batches by hand in a custom copper Christian Carl still. This technique ensures the quality and purity of the vodka while preserving the distinct wheat flavor characteristics.

Tom Burkleaux, founder and distiller at New Deal, is passionate about vodka. New Deal Vodka’s reformulation is the beginning of his quest to regain respect for vodka by creating a distinctive, well-made spirit, with discernible character. “We are one of a handful of distilleries in Oregon that have the know-how and equipment to bring wheat sourced from local farms into the door and end up with a great tasting spirit made entirely in our SE Portland distillery.” New Deal Vodka was the first product released at the distillery’s inception over ten years ago when New Deal was the smallest licensed distillery in America. Today, Tom and his team have honed their craft through persistent small batch, hands-on distilling and refining their products through the Distiller’s Workshop series.

The New Deal Vodka of today is the result of over ten years of experimenting with new techniques and recipes. The unique formula delivers a complex and textured vodka with a rich mouth-feel and a silky, clean finish. Crafted as a “sipping vodka,” this exceptional spirit can double as a foundation to simple, well-balanced cocktails.

The prestigious Beverage Testing Institute (www.tastings.com) has awarded the reformulated New Deal Vodka a Gold Medal. Rating the spirit, “exceptional” they reviewed it as “a very nice creamy vodka with a lot of character” and described the flavor profile as having a “soft, dry-yet-fruity light body and a tingling, breezy butter praline, candy corn, and mocha latte finish.”
