Old St. Nick

Milk & cookies? We think Santa would prefer to take five with this cocktail.

  • 1 1/2 oz Old Tom Gin
  • 3/4 oz Starvation Alley Unsweetened Cranberry Juice
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup
  • Bradley’s Kina Tonic syrup
  • Mint sprig, fresh cranberries for garnish

Combine all ingredients over ice and shake. Pour over fresh ice into collins glass. Top with soda water and garnish with mint sprig and fresh cranberries.

Silver Bells

  • 1½ oz Old Tom Gin
  • ¼ oz Cascadia American Bitter Liqueur
  • ½ oz Bee Local Honey Water
  • ¼ oz dry vermouth
  • ¼ oz lemon
  • 1 dash The Bitter Housewife Lemon Bitters
  • mint leaves

Shake all ingredients over ice. Strain into coupe glass and garnish with mint leaves.

AM Gold

  • 1 oz New Deal Coffee Liqueur
  • ½ oz Headframe Spirits Orphan Girl Bourbon Cream Liqueur
  • ¼ oz Amaretto
  • 2 oz Stumptown Cold Brew

Add all ingredients to cocktail shaker, fill with ice, and shake until cold. Strain into a glass of your choice, add ice, and enjoy!

Rum Old Fashioned

This reinterpretation of a classic will be your favorite Winter cocktail.

  • 2 oz Amber Rum
  • ¼ oz Demerara syrup
  • 1 dash The Bitter Housewife Orange Bitters
  • 1 dash The Bitter Housewife Aromatic Bitters
  • Orange twist for garnish

Stir rum, bitters, and Demerara syrup in a mixing glass with ice. Strain over a large ice cube into an old-fashioned glass and garnish with an orange peel.

An Apple A Day

  • 2 oz New Deal Amber Rum
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1 oz natural apple juice
  • 1/4 oz Cascadia American Bitter Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Raft Smoked Tea Vanilla Cocktail + Soda Syrup
  • Cinnamon stick, apple or lemon wedge for garnish

Shake all ingredients over ice. Pour over fresh ice into rocks glass and garnish with cinnamon stick and apple or lemon wedge.

Sleigh Ride

Chocolate and root beer guarantee the perfect ending of a perfect day.

  • 3/4 oz Mud Puddle Bitter Chocolate Vodka
  • 3/4 oz Portland 88 Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Portland Soda Works Root Beer Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Starvation Alley Unsweetened Cranberry Juice
  • Soda water
  • Bordeaux cherry for garnish

Shake all ingredients over ice and pour into collins glass. Add fresh ice & top with soda water. Garnish with a Bordeaux cherry.

Winter Wonderland

Sugar and spice and all things nice, especially vodka.

  • 1 oz Portland 88 Vodka
  • 1/2 oz New Deal Ginger Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Portland Soda Works Vanilla-Spiced Rooibos Syrup
  • 3/4 oz cream
  • Candied ginger for garnish

Shake all ingredients over ice. Pour over fresh ice into rocks glass and garnish with candied ginger.

Rose City Holiday

Celebrate our city & the holidays with some herbal, floral deliciousness.

  • 1 oz Portland 88 Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Cascadia d’Amore American Bitter Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz Portland Soda Works Rose Cordial Syrup
  • Soda or sparkling wine

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until cold, then fine strain into chilled coupe glass. Top with club soda or sparkling wine.

Mockcrest

You’ll love how the bitter liqueur plays with the sweetness of honey and vermouth in this Negroni-inspired concoction.

  • 1½ oz New Deal Gin No. 1
  • ½ oz Cascadia American Bitter Liqueur
  • ½ oz dry vermouth
  • ½ oz sweet vermouth
  • .½ oz honey syrup
  • 1 dash The Bitter Housewife Grapefruit Bitters
  • 1 lemon twist for garnish

Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass over ice and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Cascadia Old Fashioned

The superb combination of bitter, smoky & sweet make this a perfect fireside sipper.

Combine all ingredients in a rocks glass over a large ice cube and stir to incorporate. Squeeze orange zest over drink and enjoy.

Classic Hot Toddy

  • 1.5 oz New Deal Bourbon or New Deal Brandy
  • 1 T honey
  • .5 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup hot water
  • lemon wedge, cinnamon stick, whole cloves, whole star anise

Place one lemon wedge, one cinnamon stick, 5 whole cloves, and one whole star anise into a warmed mug. Pour the bourbon or brandy and lemon juice over spices. Add hot water and stir in honey until dissolved.

Enjoy a slow Sunday brunch with our gingery take on the Screwdriver.

Mix ingredients together and pour over ice in an 8 oz glass. Garnish with an orange wedge.

Ginger Lemon Drop

Pucker up! This Lemon Drop recipe is not too sour and not too sweet, thanks to the amazing smoothness of New Deal Vodka and our Ginger Liqueur.

  • 1 oz New Deal Vodka
  • ½ oz New Deal Ginger Liqueur
  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 barspoon simple syrup
  • lemon twist for garnish

Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Muddy Roots

Smoky, spicy, and sweet, this cocktail brings balance of flavor to an art form.

Mix ingredients over ice in an old-fashioned glass or highball glass, then top with soda water.

Rosemary Martini

Here we have a wintery version of the classic gin martini. Perfectly balanced to capture the crisp weather outside!

  • 2 oz Portland Dry Gin 33
  • ½ oz Dolin Blanc Vermouth
  • ½ oz rosemary simple syrup
  • spring of rosemary for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a sprig of rosemary.

Rosemary Simple Syrup
Combine equal parts sugar to hot water (for example 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar) and stir until sugar is dissolved. Add a handful of fresh rosemary, cover and let steep for an hour. Strain and cool.

Hot to Trot

New Deal’s feature cocktail at the 2013 Planned Parenthood’s Sexy Tueaday Martini Night Fundraiser, this hot cider will warm you from the inside out!
Serves 14

  • 5 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 T whole cloves
  • 1/2  T allspice
  • 64 oz spiced apple cider
  • 21 oz New Deal Ginger Liqueur
  • 7 oz New Deal Vodka or New Deal Amber or Aged Rum

In a saucepan, immerse cinnamon, cloves and allspice in cider (you can use a tea bag if you don’t want to strain later). Heat cider on medium-high stovetop until steaming, stirring occasionally, then cover and let simmer for 20 minutes or until spiced to taste. Stir in Ginger Liqueur and vodka or rum. Strain immediately into warmed mugs.

Water Ave Espresso Martini

MudPuddle, Water Ave, Coffee LiqThis rich espresso martini will make the perfect dessert cocktail for your  dinner party.

  • 1 oz New Deal Coffee Liqueur
  • 2 oz New Deal Mud Puddle Bitter Chocolate Vodka
  • 2 shots of Water Avenue Espresso

Shake all ingredients with ice until well chilled and strain into a martini glass.

Pear Vanilla Sparkler

  • 1/4 of a ripe pear, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 oz. honey syrup*
  • 1/4 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz. New Deal Distiller’s Cut Rum
  • 1/2 oz. Navan (vanilla cognac)
  • 2 oz. chilled Champagne

In the bottom of a shaker, muddle the pear in the honey syrup and lemon juice. Add the New Deal Distiller’s Cut Rum and Navan and stir briefly with ice.

 

Strain into a chilled champagne flute or martini glass and finish with Champagne.

Garnish with a couple slices of pear.

*Honey Syrup: In a small saucepan add equal parts of honey and water, bring to a simmer until the honey has melted into the water then allow to cool.

Triple Cider Punch

  • 1 375mL bottle of New Deal Ginger Liqueur
  • 3 cups dry hard cider (such as Wandering Aengus)
  • 1 750 mL bottle of sparkling cider
  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 1 1/2 cups whiskey of choice
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Several dashes orange bitters
  • 1 orange sliced into rounds, for garnish
  • Cinnamon sticks, for garnish

Combine the New Deal Ginger Liqueur, ciders, whiskey, lemon juice, and bitters in a large punch bowl or pitcher. Stir to combine.

Top with orange slices and cinnamon sticks.

Ladle into ice-filled punch glasses.

SERVES 15-20 (makes approximately 17 cups liquid)

True Chocolate Martini

  • 2 oz Mud Puddle Bitter Chocolate Vodka
  • 1 oz vanilla vodka
  • .25-0.5 oz simple syrup (to taste)

Shake with ice and strain into a sugar rimmed martini glass.
