May 1st, 2010: Cascade AIDS Project's (CAP) 21st Annual Art Evening & Auction
Join the Cascade AIDS Project for their 21st Annual Art Evening & Auction at the historic Bison Building. Every year since 1990, CAP has hosted an art auction and party to raise money to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and provide services to those infected or affected by HIV in the Northwest. Portland's art community first organized this iconic event and they remain the backbone of the Art Evening and Auction today. The event has grown over the past two decades and now encompassing 200 works of art and over 1,000 guests.

The evening includes a Patron Event with dinner, oral and silent auctions of over 200 juried artworks, and a party, The Grand Event, that draws out the very best of the Northwest: the most captivating art, the most delicious food and specialty libations, and the most fascinating people. Patron Event features performances by Cirque du Soleil, a live art auction, hosted cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and desserts. Grand Event features a silent auction showcasing over 200 contemporary artworks, unique entertainment, music, hosted wine and beer, hors d'oeuvres and desserts.

May 6th, 2010: Bike Economics: A showcase of local, woman-owned, bicycle-oriented businesses

Come meet a cross-section of people in Portland’s bicycle and business communities, learn more about a few local businesses you might not have heard much about and a few that you have doubtless seen all over the news, and be inspired by the possibilities for building a successful business around bicycling. A sliding scale donation at the door of $10 to $30 will benefit the new scholarship fund for woman leaders in active transportation. Admission will include light food, cocktails, and door prizes.

Funds raised by this event will create a new scholarship. The fund will assist women in attending conferences or pursuing leadership training or professional development workshops for the purpose of enhancing their ability to act as leaders in active transportation. Featured business owners will have stations set up where they show their work. During the evening we’ll ask each of them to spend one or two minutes each informally telling the room about their work.

Also see the story on BikePortland.org.

May 15th & 16th, 2010: din din catering's 2010 Distillery Row Brunch Series: New Deal Distillery

Americans like something we call "breakfast for dinner," but Courtney Sproule of din din catering has always been a "dinner for breakfast" kind of girl. There's something very elegant and effortless about a perfectly poached farm egg on top of last night's dinner. Courtney's affinity for brunch help land her a stint as Matchbox Lounge's brunch chef where she hosted a House Spirits Brunch Series brunch and "cocktails for brunch" soon became her personal favorite.

Since then, the craft distilleries of the Hawthorne area have banded together as Distillery Row. We all work from the ethic of producing the very best of what we do locally, and we get that it makes sense to collaborate. Distillery Row is honored to collaborate with Courtney and din din catering for the 2010 Distillery Row Brunch Series at Courtney's stomping ground at Milepost 5.

We will be the featured distillery for the brunches held on Saturday, May 15th and Sunday, May 16th. Enjoy a delicious 4-course meal complete with New Deal cocktail pairings, coffee by beloved heart, and juice by Columbia Gorge Juice.

To make your reservation send a check for $35/person to:
